Dabu Printing in Green
Date: February 21st & 22nd
Time: 11am - 5pm IST
Discover the timeless craft of dabu printing with master artisans from Bagru, a town celebrated for its rich textile heritage. Dating back to the 8th century, dabu is a traditional technique that uses mud resist and natural dyes to create patterns and textures.
In this hands-on workshop, we will learn how to prepare a resist paste using local materials from Bagru,an integral part of this ancient craft. Guided by expert printers, Ashok Kumar Nama and Govind Chippa, we will create beautiful patterns on fabric using Nila’s collection of hand-carved blocks and explore a two-step dyeing method to achieve shades of green. At the end of the session, you will take home your own hand block printed fabric.
The workshop includes lunch at Nila and all materials. Open to participants of all skill levels, this is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself into Rajasthan’s vibrant textile traditions and learn directly from local artisans.
