UNI STRIPE INDIGO

The Uni-Stripe cushion is a part of the first collection of textiles made by Suti Looms, a weavers’ initiative that Nila has been supporting over the last year in the village of Malikpur, an hour outside Jaipur. What started out as an informal collective of weavers has formalised into an artisan-led entrepreneurial venture to revive the high quality, upholstery grade fabric that is at the heart of the local textile eco system. The face of Uni-Stripe cushion has been woven on looms using cotton yarn, hand-spun by a group of local women spinners. The indigo yarn used in the weave has also been dyed at the Suti Loom centre, at a vat set up and looked after by the weaver themselves. The backing is made from handloom cotton, woven using yarns spun on an Ambar charkha.  With its simple yet elegant stripe design and high quality, hearty woven fabric, the Uni-Stripe cushion is a contemporary piece that carries the positive values of restorative, uplifting craft practices. 

Composition & Care

100% handloom cotton with natural indigo details Hand wash separately in cold water and line dry in the shade. The natural indigo stripes may face slightly over time, with exposure to direct sunlight. The textile may carry subtle irregularities; this is a part of the beauty of handwoven textiles.
